This morning during Jesus time we praised God for the gift of salvation through Jesus' death and resurrection! He has risen!

Thank you Pastor Lepley for leading our bird walk today!

Getting ready for the bird walk

Starting the walk

One of the first birds we saw was a goose.

A killdeer nest.  Can you believe they nest in the ground?!

We found some nests!

There is a robin!

Group picture :)

And one with Pastor Lepley!

We saw bluebirds too!

There's a kill deer in this picture, can you see it?

Pastor Lepley acted like a kill deer bird.  Everyone thought that was funny.

Back in the classroom the friends were excited to look for more birds!

We saw two mourning doves and added the tally marks to our chart.

The friends helped me find the birds we saw on our bird walk in one of our bird books!

Making homes for the birds

Expliring bird seed

Making a list of all of the birds we saw

Second free choice

"I think a woodpecker made the holes in this rock."

As the friends create in the blocks, they are learning important foundational math skills!

They are also learning valuable social skills as they work together!

"The birdies hatched!  We need to feed them!"

Some of the friends reviewed the alphabet independently.  This intrinsic motivation to learn will help the children as they continue to develop.

"This bird is going hop hop hop.  It's a robin!"

Watching for birds

During small group time we continued to make bird houses out of good junk.

Mrs. Lipsey read us a book about robins.

We finished our birds with Mrs. Helmkamp.

With me, the friends continued to practice letter and their sounds as they wrote letters int he birdseed.
