Today in chapel Pastor Lepley had a bag.  We hypothesized if there was anything in the bag.  He shook the bag and we heard a bell.  He asked us how we know that there was a bell in the bag.  We knew because we heard it!  That is like Jesus.  We can't see Him, but we know that He is there because we have heard about it in the bible!  Jesus was born to die on the cross and rise again to save us from our sins!

Outside time

During small group time we continued our work on patterns.  We are working on AB patterns as well as more elaborate patterns including AB, ABC, AABB, etc.  Patterning is a foundational math skill!

Independently the friends worked on finding the letters to write words found on the word cards.

With Mrs. Zwettler, the friends continued to paint their advent wreaths.

I forgot the iPad in the classroom during second outside time.  :(  My apologies.

Second free choice

During second small groups we continued to extend our pattern knowledge.

We also wrote words with the magnetic letters.

We drew animals for our Nativity Scene too!

Happy Birthday Lucas!  We are so thankful that God brought you into our class!

The play dough table was quite popular this morning.  Play dough helps the friends strengthen their fine motor skills.  It also allows the friends to practice valuable social skills including sharing, taking turns, and cooperation.

During morning meeting we read a book about Jesus' birth!

Fun in the gym!

A huge thank you to Mrs. Gore who came in to show us some great Veterinarian supplies.  Mrs. Gore was a Vet Tech for 10 years! She showed us many x-rays from some of the animals she has worked with. The friends who wanted to were able to listen to the do the dog's breathing and heartbeat with a stethoscope!

We danced to get our wiggles out before Jesus time.

During Jesus time our alligator puppet visited! Advent is a season of waiting. He told us that he does not like to wait.  We discussed various things that we have to wait for.  (If we are hungry, waiting to watch tv until we clean our rooms, etc.)  We leaned that people waited years for their Savior Jesus to be born!  We thanked God for sending Jesus to earth so that He could die on the cross and rise again to save us from our sins!

We put what we learned from Mrs. Gore into practice!

During small group time we drew angels for our class-made nativity scene.

We worked with geobords.

We also continued to work with patterns.  We are working to scaffold their pattern knowledge from just an AB pattern to ABC, AABB, ABB, etc.
