During Jesus time we learned the story of the two men on the road at Easter.  They were walking with Jesus and did not know it!  Once they realized it was Jesus, they ran to tell everyone the good new that Jesus is alive!  May we be excited to spread the good news too!

During small group time, the friend enjoyed engaging their large motor group with some dancing.

We practiced subitizing, counting with one to one correspondence, and matching numbers with Mrs. Dorhman.

The friends finished their bird house/feeders.  :)

With me, the friends practiced recognizing letters and their sounds.  We thought of words that begin with that sound.  We also changed some words to start with the sound.  (What if apple started with T?  It would be Tapple!).

This is something that you can do at home with your child too!  This increases phonemic awareness.  Research shows that children with strong phonemic awareness skills tend to also be strong readers.

Whoops!  I forgot to take pictures in the gym.  :(

Free choice time

Puzzles increase spatial relationships.  Spatial relationships are a foundational math skill!

Observing and tallying birds

Block creations also increase spatial awareness skills as well as problem solving and collaboration!

Engaging our senses as we explore volume with birdseed.

Creation station work

These friends worked together to decide who has a turn next with the birds.

"Well we need to sign up."

"Yeah and then say, 'How many minutes until my turn?'"

We have the freedom here at Our Shepherd to incorporate Jesus in all that we do! Today was a perfect example.  Two of the friends had a disagreement during free choice time. This is a natural part of life not only in Pre-K, but also as adults!  As I walked over to talk to the friends, one of them said, "I am sorry.  We should pray."  The friends proceeded to pray and ask God to forgive their sins.

These skills not only model the walk of a child of God, but also help others to see Jesus' love!

Once they prayed together, one of the friends said, "I know!  How about we do it together?"

As you can see, they did do it together!  :)

After rest we took a walk to see a bird's nest!

On the playground we saw a mourning dove sitting in her nest!

Outside time

Second free choice

Look how we work together to help each other!

"I made a balance beam."

During small group time we added details to our lily observational drawings.

Independently, the friends danced!

With me, the friends helped paint posters for week of the young child.
