What a great day!  It was so nice to be back with our friends. I sure did miss them!!

During morning meeting we each took turns sharing a story that happened while I was gone.  This was a great opportunity for our friends to engage in conversation, retell stories, and practice important social skills including waiting your turn to speak and looking at the speaker!

We then showed our third grade friends how to get out to the creek.

Once at the creek, we worked together to find and count flowers!  We noticed that some of the flowers were on the ground while others were on trees!

Back in the classroom the friends painted a dandelion.

They also worked in the writing area!  Some friends wrote flower words while other friends wrote books and illustrations.

We carried our clipboards to the blocks to document our creations!

The friends also worked together making train tracks.

"If we put it this way the train will go fast!"

"I am going to make this tower taller than me!!  Right now it is shorter."

After lunch we headed out to the playground!

Happy Monday!

Each Monday our friends work hard to put their rest items into their rest boxes.

Then, everyday we practice writing our names.

We then find a book a head to the carpet to read.  Although the friends are not reading conventionally, they are learning important skills! They are tracking print as they retell the story.  They are also reading the illustrations in the books.  In addition, the friends are growing in their love of books and reading!

During morning meeting we read this book!

We noticed that the work rainbow was in different colors.
The author decided to give us a clue as to what the word says!
When we write books, we can do the same!

After snack, we opened the surprise bag!  Thank you to the Moss family who purchased face masks with a clear window for our friends!

We then went to work with our 3rd grade friends in preparation for our field trip.

We worked together to count the flowers in different areas of the school.  The friends practiced one to one correspondence as they made a mark for each flower.  The practiced counting as they counted the marks.  They also  practiced writing numbers as they documented the number of flowers in each area!

Back in the classroom, we wrote flower words that we found on seed packets.

We also drew flowers and wrote stories about flowers!

We explored with the number tiles and loose parts.

The friends also used wooden flower pieces to make their own unique flower!

The friends worked so hard in the blocks.  They used paper and their creative thinking to enhance their block creations as well.

The creation station was busy with friends making flowers!

During Jesus time we began listing what we know about Jesus.  Three words we focused on include:

kind
loving
faithful (we had a discussion about what this word means)

After lunch we headed outside!

The early childhood years bring such simple joys.  The friends were laughing and working together to try to catch the butterfly flying around by the second sign by the creek.  I loved hearing them work together!

"You go quickly over there!  I will stay here!'

"Go get him!"

(laughter)

"He's just so fast!"

"Let me try! Come here little butterfly!"

(laughter)
