Happy Half Birthday Kennedy!  We are so thankful that God brought you to our school!

We have had a fantastic National Lutheran School's Week!

Just a reminder: My daughter is having surgery for hip dysplasia, and I will not be here the next two weeks.

This morning Pastor Matt led our devotion.  He showed us how important it is to have Jesus as our foundation.  The foundation of boxes representing worldly things, was crushed easily.

However, the firm foundation of concrete blocks representing Jesus was firm and was not crushed.

We then went to the gym for an all school picture and Jump Rope for Heart!

Thank you Mrs. Miller for organizing jump rope for heart for our school!  We are blessed with an amazing staff at Our Shepherd.

Kennedy's Grandma was our guest reader today.  The library was closed for re-shelving, so we enjoyed our library time in the classroom.  :)

Pastor Matt brough the concrete blocks down to our classroom for us to explore as part of our Construction Project.  We learned that we can't lift them without getting permission from a teacher first.

The friends explored the blocks.  They expanded their language by describing how they felt and what they noticed about them.

Some of the friends did rubbings of the blocks to further their exploration.

After all of the extra activities this morning, we enjoyed our free choice time.

The friends worked to write labels for their creations.  They also wrote nametags for their roles in the various games.  This was a great opportunity to engage in meaningful writing practice.

During Jesus time we acted out the story of the blind man who was healed by Jesus.

We sang the song that helps us review the story.

During second free choice Ezra and Mary made water and sand together.  They wanted to use it again, so Mrs. Lipsey took them to the laminator to laminate it so that they could play with it again and again.  :)

Teamwork makes the dream work!

We signed posters made by our school to thank the local first responders.

During small group time, we read books.

We rolled a dice and jumped that many times with Mrs. Lipsey.

We rolled a dice and thew the cotton ball the same number of times.

Happy Animal Day!

Morning free choice

During morning meeting we read a book about snow since the snow was falling down outside.  :)

Before snack, we delivered a big birthday card to Pastor Lepley!

In the gym, we continued to practice two foot hopping with a relay!

During small group time, we drew pictures for our church thanking them for all of the support they give to our school.

Independently, we increased spatial reasoning as we worked with the geoboards and pattern blocks.

With me, the friends  they rolled a dice.  Next, the friends counted out the corresponding amount of cheerios. Finally, they strung them on pipe cleaners.  This activity promotes one to one correspondence, increases the ability to subitize, and strengthens fine motor skills.

During Jesus time we reviewed the story of the blind man.  We remembered that Jesus saves us from our sins through His death and resurrection on the cross!

Second free choice

During small group time we continued practicing how to subitize as we rolled a dice and threw a cotton ball into the cup the corresponding number of times.

We created at the creation station.

We practiced subitizing with Mrs. Lipsey as we rolled a dice and hopped the same number of times.  The friends practiced hopping on one foot!  :)
