Happy Thanksgiving!

We began our morning thanking God for our many blessings!

Outside time

Back in the classroom, the friends engaged in creative thinking as they made their own turkey.  They selected materials intentionally.

"I am cutting these for the legs."

"I need two feathers."

Writing practice

This afternoon, we watched a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving with Mrs. Helmkamp's class.

This morning we sang a song that reminded us that we have so much to be thankful for!  As we sang, we listed the things for which we are thankful.

We praised God for such a beautiful morning outside!

As we walked to the outdoor classroom, the friends noticed the changes in the trees.

"I think the trees died."

"Yeah! They die in the winter."

"Do trees die in the winter?"

We then had a discussion about what trees do in the winter.

Outdoor classroom

We read a book about Thanksgiving.  In the book we learned a new word: bare! Many of the friends thought it was funny because it sounds the same as bear. We wrote it down as a word we learned.  At home, try to incorporate the word bare too!  The vocabulary in books supports the friends' expanding language development.  :)

During small group time we read another book with Ms. Marks.  Ms. Marks paused during the rhyming parts to allow the friends to fill in the blanks and complete the rhyme.

Exploring spatial relationships

"I can make a turkey out of diamonds!"

The friends love reading.  We read every day multiple times a day!
Here we are reading during small group time.

The friends worked to make a turkey out of good junk today.  The friends engaged in creative thinking as they made their turkeys.  Did you know that creative thinking is the highest level thinking skill according to the updated Bloom's Taxonomy?  As your child engages in creative thinking, he/she is expanding cognitive capabilities!

The friends are learning important social skills as we engage in free choice play.

This morning the friends brought happy tears to my eyes. They each wanted to say a personal prayer to Jesus for our day.  Look how God has given the gift of faith to our friends!

We braved the cold for a few minutes!

We then went to the gym.

Free choice time

The friends have now made this into a game!

"You get a point if it lands in the basket."

"I got a point!"

"Be gentle with the baby to keep it safe."

We are writers!

Building cubes in a cube

During small group time we read some of our favorite books.

We engaged in rhyming as we read Hop on Pop.

We explored spatial relationships with the pattern blocks.

We practiced writing our name as well!

This morning we sang some silly songs.  We then learned new songs to praise our Savior!

Exploring weight and numbers with the rocks

"Be sure that the basket is right below it!"

Taking care of the babies

Creating

During small group time we explored spatial relationships with Mrs. Calvert.

We engaged in rhyming fun as we read Hop on Pop with Ms. Marks.

We also fostered our love for reading!

With me, the fiends practiced writing their names.
