During chapel this morning Mr. Mark Borcherding led chapel and we talked about symbols of Easter.  He showed us one egg with a yolk inside, and then cracked another egg and it was empty!  The empty egg reminds us of Jesus' empty tomb.  Jesus is not dead; He is alive!

Back in the classroom we did some research to find answers to some of our bird questions.  We read about how and why birds make nests.  We learned that

Making birds

Mrs. Burris, the kindergarten aide, gave us this nice desk for our classroom!  The friends really love it!  Thank you Mrs. Burris!

Working together in the blocks

Play provides opportunities for the friends to learn and use new vocabulary!  For example:

Teacher: "Wow!  It looks like you are making a perch for your bird!"

Friend: "What is a perch?"

Teacher: "It is a place for the birds to sit and rest."

Friend: "Oh yeah! I made a perch for my bird."

Making cards for friends

Some of the friends worked to create bird houses for us to hang in the classroom for the birds at the creation station.  They worked together and used creative thinking to make the houses!

Counting the eggs

During morning meeting we researched more to answer some of our bird questions!

Second free choice time

Working on bird houses

The friend told me we needed a piece of tape that is three.  I asked him to get a ruler so we could measure the correct length.  The friend used his knowledge of measurement to measure the tape.

Working together to build nests in the blocks

During small group time we expressed creativity as we made birds.

We increased our spatial relationship skills as we collaborated to complete a puzzle.

Mrs. Lipsey read books to the friends and allowed them time to ask questions about birds.

With me, we practiced recognizing letters and their sounds.  We then wrote the letters in birdseed!
