This morning we went to the 8th grade classroom to listen to the speeches for student council President. We discussed how they were going to take a vote and count the votes, just like we do in our class.

Outside time

Many important social skills are developed in outdoor play.  The friends are learning how to ask for turns with the swings.  They are learning that sometimes they have to wait.  They are also learning how to interact with one another.  The friends have continued to love to play "Crunchy Crunch."  This was a game they made up the first week of school.  :)

We are also learning how to show God's love to each other!

The mud kitchen was extremely popular this morning.  This provided a natural opportunity to learn those important social skills mentioned previously.

We found an ant in our classroom!

We put the ant in a container.

"Wait!  He is going to crawl out of that one.  We need to find a different one."

During small group time the friends drew a picture of a cricket. Then, each friend had a turn during free choice time to observe a cricket and draw it again in an observational drawing.  It is fun to see how the drawings change as the friends have an authentic cricket for observation.

Observing the cricket and drawing the details.

We then went to the library.  Thank you Mrs. B. for reading to us today!

During afternoon meeting we acted out our Jesus time story for the week.  We remembered that God sent Jesus to die on the cross to save us from our sins!

We then had a a discussion of how we could change our classroom for our bug project.  Many of the friends wanted to to make bug hotels and/or bug traps.  During free choice time they went straight to work.

This morning in Jesus time we played Simon Says.  We learned that we have to listen to the directions of the game.  We then discussed how God gives us directions too.  Adam and Eve did not listen to God's directions, but the story doesn't end there!  God promised to send a Savior, Jesus, to wash all of our sins away!

We enjoyed the beautiful weather outside today!

As we walked to the outdoor classroom, one of the friends found a worm! We decided to put him in the planter box so he could be safe.

Making mud

When we returned to the classroom, we noticed that there was a hole in our bug house and the cricket was missing! We discussed together our thoughts of why the cricket wanted to get out and how he got out.

We also decorated bags for Special Person's Day next Friday. :)

We continued to work on our observational drawing skills.

Free choice time

"I'm a baby."

"Do babies eat sandwiches?"

"Well I am a big baby."

During free choice time we noticed that the woolly worm escaped too! We took this opportunity to take an up close look at it.

One of the friends graphed whether the friends want to let it go outside or keep it inside.

Some friends then made a tree with many bugs surrounding it.

During rest time Mrs. Richard found our cricket in her classroom!

We observed it closely during afternoon meeting.

We explored the outdoor classroom for more bugs.

We also made more mud!

"I found one!"

The bug search continued on the playground.
