During Jesus time we praised God for raising Jesus from the dead!

He is alive!  Because of the gift of faith through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can live with Jesus eternally!

During small group time we practiced letter identification, letter sounds, and correct letter formation as we wrote letters in the birdseed.

We continued to problem solve and create a bird house with good junk.  This engages our brains in creative thinking, which according to the updated Bloom's Taxonomy, is the highest level thinking skill.

With Mrs. Zwettler, the friends expressed their creativity as they made birds!

During gym time we practiced skipping.  This is something you can do at home with your child too!

"We are making a fence for the bird so it can't get out."

We were excited to add a suet to our bird feeder to (hopefully) attract more birds!

Making bird nests to keep the eggs safe and warm.

"This is a momma bird.  It just hatched this baby bird from the egg."

Observing birds and tallying bird sightings

The friends were interested in the different bird houses in the new bird book.

"We should make a house like this for the birds to stay warm in the rain."

Working together to complete the puzzle

Making cards for friends :)

The one of the mail goals of using the Project Approach to meet standards and learning goals is to incorporate student interest and inquiry into learning.  When young children are interested, their brain is engaged, they learn more, and they are more likely to retain the knowledge learned.

During morning meeting we read this book.  We discussed other questions we have about birds and added them to our Wonder Web.  Some of the questions include:

"How do birds make nests?"

"How many birds are there?"

I encourage you to have open ended discussions with your child at home.  Allow your child to wonder about the world.  There is no need to give your child an answer if he/she can experience it for him/herself.  Experience is the best teacher.  :)

This afternoon we had a school assembly entitled Chemistry is a Blast!
