Welcome to November!

This morning we played with the letters on our magnetic board.  We practiced making words! This independent exploration increases letter recognition, letter and sound correlation, and beginning word formation.

Karissa made her own pattern!  Can you guess what it is?

Is it magnetic?

We love the geoboards!

Making books in the creation station

Jordan and Elijah made nametags to identify themselves as Veterinarians.

They also made an X-Ray machine for the animals

Creating in the blocks

It definitely does not feel like November outside!
We enjoyed the beautiful weather this morning for sure!

During small group time we worked with these playdough mats.  These mats help us recognize numerical numbers and numbers in word form.  They also increase our one to one correspondence, and counting as well as number formation.

Mrs. Zwettler worked with the friends on these mats during small group time.

Independently, the friends used craft sticks and shape prompts to make their own shapes.

With me the friends worked with letters.  God made each child unique, and success for each child is also unique.  In this activity success for some children was tracing the letters and beginning to recognize the letters.  Success for other children was sorting the letters into groups of upper case and lower case.  Success for other children was putting the letters together to make simple words.  We celebrate all success in Pre-K!

During Jesus time we learned the story of God giving the Ten Commandments.  We learned that God knows what is best for us.  We also learned that we often sin and don't follow God's law.  We were reminded that God sent His Son, Jesus, to forgive us!  He took all of our sins away when He died on the cross and rose again!

Second outside time

During second free choice many of the friends chose to practice their writing skills!

Vet play

We loved playing with the Legos!

During second small groups we played a game that increases one to one correspondence, counting, number recognition, and fine motor skills.

We also practiced making different shapes.

Finally we worked on a game with Mrs. Lipsey that promotes foundational math skills.
