Welcome back to school!  I pray that you had a safe and yummy Thanksgiving break!  :)

This morning the friends helped to put up our Christmas tree.  They practiced sorting the colors of the pieces.  They also measured to see which pieces are the longest (for the bottom).

Creation station fun!

Yay!  Our Christmas tree!

Playdough creations

We always begin our gym time with stretches and warm ups.

We played sleepy cow, alive cow, and dead cow.  This game helps us follow directions, exercise our bodies, and it is fun!

After the game, we did some exercises to cross our midline.

Then we ran and played!

During small group time we worked on patterning with me.

The friends explored and created with the tangrams independently.

With Mrs. Zwettler, the friends worked to make their own advent wreath.  This is a small group that we will work on all week.

(Are you wondering what is advent?  Click HERE to find out more about Advent!)

During transitions, we are increasing our phonemic awareness skills by singing this song to the tune of Deck the Halls.  Feel free to sing this song at home too!  :)

During Jesus time we learned about when the angel came to mary to tell her that Jesus would be born.  We discussed that some people think that Christmas is all about presents, decorations, etc.  We know the truth.  Although those are fun parts of Christmas, the reason we celebrate Christmas is because Jesus was born so that He could die on the cross and rise again to save us from our sins!

Due to the rain we had indoor recess today!

We started our time together by dancing!

Free choice time

You would be so proud of your children!  During free choice many of the friends chose to create with the playdough.  Two friends were arguing over a tool.

One of the friends said, "Okay we need to share the tool."  The friends not involved in the argument then asked each other if anyone had a tool like the one they were arguing about.  They gave it to the two friends to solve the argument.

A few minutes later a friend joined the table and had no play dough.  Many of the friends offered to share their dough!

The children are learning how to solve their own problems and show God's love.  They are also learning how to help their friends do the same!

During second small group time we again worked with patterns.

We also created with the geoboards.

Finally, we worked together to paint a background for our class made nativity scene.
