Happy Monday!

As you saw in your child's portfolio, our handwriting has greatly improved throughout the first trimester.  Even more important, the friends' desire and interest in writing has grown!

Playdough creations

During morning meeting we read this silly book.  During small group time this week we will do activities with this story as well!

The friends were excited to explore with the instruments today!

We practiced playing softly, loudly, fast, and slow.  We also practiced rhythm. :)

Gym time!

We always begin with stretches and warm ups when we go to the gym.

During small group time, we worked together to use props to re-tell the story I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie.

We also worked on books that describe what we are thankful for.

Finally, we worked on a recipe book.  Each friend dictated how to cook a turkey.

During Jesus time, we acted out the story of Noah and the ark.  Some of the friends were the ark, some were Noah, and some were animals.  We remembered that the best part of the story is that God keeps His promises!

Second outside time was chilly but fun!

During second free choice we had a discussion if a dog would medicine using this syringe.  Some of the friends thought that their dog would while others thought their dog would not.  It is a question we will look for an answer to!

During clean up time from second free choice, the friends were not cleaning up.  We took some of our small group time and I made a mess for the friends to practice their cleaning.  They worked together, made a plan, and cleaned the mess in record time.

"Okay guys- five of us in each center.  Let's get to work!"

Did you know that your child can read?  Environmental print is logos, brands, etc. that is found in our everyday life.  (McDonald's sign, Barbie Logo, etc..) "Reading" environmental print is a foundational reading skill!

With Mrs. Zwettler, the friends worked to retell the I Know an Old Lady who Swallowed a Pie story.
