Monday, September 28

Happy Monday!     I pray that you all had a restful weekend!

This morning we learned about Jacob in the bible.  We learned that no matter what sinful things we do, Jesus forgives us and is with us!  We sang a song "Jesus says I'm with you" based on our bible verse for the week.  "God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

We were able to go outside for a bit before it began raining!

Once the rain came, we had a dance party under the shade structure.

After snack we read this book.  It is familiar to many of the friends!  They helped me read the book by completing the rhymes on the pages.

One of our questions in our butterfly/moth study was how do butterfly wings fly?  This week we will explore that further.  We made a few areas in the classroom called - "Can you make it fly?"  The friends helped me write the signs for it. This is more meaningful to them than if I had written it for them.  We often engage in meaningful writing practice!

We then discussed a safe place for us to test our flying.  We made a sign for that area as well.  I modeled using a finger space between the words and I noticed that the friends used a finger space between the words as well!

After we discussed ways to keep each other safe, we went to work!

We also made an area for the friends to make butterflies / moths out of good junk.  They are engaging in creative and expressive thinking!

Working in the "Can you make it fly?" area

Some friends chose to work together in the blocks.  They practiced collaboration, cooperation, and conflict resolution as they worked.

Testing our prototypes

"I am not sure how to make the wings.  I am going to check this book."

After lunch we made words with the magnetic letters.

We then went on a letter / word hunt around the school!
