Friday, September 11

Happy Friday!  Look how our alphabet is filling up with words that we can read!  The friends worked so hard to read all of the words together!

Playground work

We had so much fun on the hill that I forgot to take pictures!

After snack we read this funny book.  It has lots of rhyming words and repetitive phrases!

We then observed our caterpillars, and we noticed that they are moving to the top.  Our friends are so excited to see the chrysalis!

Each friend took a turn to share what he / she observed about the caterpillars.  We practiced listening to the friend speaking, looking at the friend speaking, and asking questions.

Outdoor classroom work

During our nature walk today we observed one area for five minutes.  The friends drew a representation of what they observed for the five minutes. Through this activity, the friends are learning to focus on the details and attend to an activity for a sustained amount of time.

Then the friends shared what they observed.  We celebrated each friend's hard work with claps and cheers.  This increases the friends' confidence and also builds our classroom community.

After rest time we observed our caterpillars some more.  We also received a gift from the Kindergarten class!  They found a caterpillar on a large leaf!  We enjoyed noticing the differences between the caterpillars.

Some of the friends researched to find out what type of caterpillar the kindergarten friends gave us!
