Friday, September 4

This morning we checked on our caterpillars.  The one that we found in the outdoor classroom looks like it is beginning to make a chrysalis!  Can you see it in the picture below?

Today we had a visitor, Mrs. Mourer, come bring us corn worms!  The corn worms will make a cocoon and through metamorphosis they will turn into a moth!  We are so thankful for the many real experiences we are having with caterpillars, moths, and butterflies!

See the corn worm hiding in the ear of corn?

We learned that when the worm is full it will drop into the dirt below it.  We put some plastic ziplock bags (with holes for air) on top of the worm containers to keep our worms safe and contained.  :)
