Welcome back!  I pray that you had a restful long weekend!

This morning the children explored s provocation in the science area.  How many cotton balls will it take to balance a rock? The friends quickly noticed that even all of the cotton balls could not equal one rock.

We brainstormed other items, and the friends chose to use pine cones.  The friends are exploring foundational math and science concepts as they explore!

The friends love counting the money for the movie theater!  This leads to many discussions about addition and subtraction concepts.

For example:

"I only have 4 pennies, but I want popcorn. (which is 6) "

"Here's two more pennies.  Now you have six!"

We love the creation station!

Outdoor Play

During small group time, we worked on our spider lap books.  This week we are wrapping up everything that we learned about Spiders!  I can't wait to see all that we have learned!

We also explored and documented with the balance, rocks, and pine cones.

With Mrs. Zwettler we made picture sticks which we will use around the classroom to increase our positive self-identity.

During Jesus time we read the story of Abraham and Sarah.  We learned that God keeps His promises!

Second outside time was hot but fun!

Look at our cooperation during second free choice!

We exercised our fine motor skills as we took straws out of their wrappers. Once they are all open, we will safely use scissors to cut them.  (This is a fun way to strengthen fine motor skills and practice scissor skills!)

During second small groups we finished our Very Busy Spider finger puppets.

We also worked on the straws!

(Whoops!  I did not take a picture of the group with me!  My apologies.)  We also dictated everything we know about spiders.  We have learned so much!
