This morning the friends continued their movie theater play from yesterday.  The half day friends quickly joined in the fun!

We used our fine motor skills and creativity to make popcorn for the theater.

We also worked to cut out the tickets.

Jordan was selling the tickets.  We decided that he needed a name tag so people would know who to look for when they wanted to buy a ticket.  He helped to write "Check In Guy" for his name tag.  He engaged in meaningful writing!

Elijah and Owen paid two coins for their tickets.

Dominick made another check in area!

Elijah made a sign to remind everyone that tickets are two coins.

Abby made a second sign for the second ticket booth.

Jordan gave Eli a turn as the check in guy.  The friends used one to one correspondence and practiced counting as they paid for their tickets.

When the popcorn was ready, the friends created a concession stand to sell it.  We had to decide a price for the popcorn.  We decided on six coins.

The "fire" popcorn was burning our mouths, so we decided to sell water too.  It is affordably priced at three coins.

The friends again practiced recognizing numbers, counting, and one to one correspondence as they purchased and paid for their snacks.

Outside Time

Before small group time, we watched a short video about spiders.

During small group time we drew a picture of spiders and the life cycle of spiders for our Spider Lap Book.

We also read books!

Finally, we worked to make puppets so we can re-tell the story of The Very Busy Spider.  This promotes language development.

Second outside time

During second free choice, many of the friends returned to the Movie Theater Center.  AS they play, the children are engaging in meaningful counting, number recognition, writing, and cooperation!

During small group time, we wrote the titles for our Spider Lap Books.

We explored in the sand.

Finally, we worked on the puppets so we can re-tell the story of The Very Busy Spider.
