This morning we began our day with chapel and our chapel buddies!

Pastor Matt led chapel today.  He shared with us the importance of listening.  The most important thing to listen to is the good news of Jesus' death and resurrection which gives us salvation!

Outside time

The friends created a chase game which they have coined, "crunchy crunch." :)

We stopped to see the progress on the fence in our outdoor classroom.

After snack, we had a dance party and stretched before story time.

After story time we worked in small groups.

We continued to work on recognizing the letters in our names.

We completed our number line.  The friends worked in pairs to count out the number.  This was a great time to practice number recondition, one to one correspondence, and counting.

With me, the friends practiced writing numbers for our birthday calendar.

It is important for the friends to take an active role in the calendar creation to make it meaningful for them.

The friends also worked to write the months for the calendar.

After small group time, we sang the months of the year song and the children stood when we sang the month of their birthday.  This, again, helps make the months of the year more meaningful for the friends.

Free choice time

"This one is heavier!"

Exploring magnifying glasses provides an opportunity for language development and comparisons.

"I see more of you with the blue one."

"The clear one makes things bigger."

Working together in the magnetic tiles promotes collaboration and increases spatial reasoning.

During morning meeting we discussed this cucumber.  We predicted what is inside, what it smells like, and whether or not we will like the taste of it.

Smelling the cucumber

During lunch time, we each tried a bite of the cucumber.
(Thank you King family for sharing the cucumber with us!)

During afternoon meeting we sang songs to increase our phonemic awareness. You can play with the sounds of language at home too!   It's fun to be silly with words.   :)

"What does this say?"

The friends are showing that they understand that letters make words.  This is an important concept of print.

"Look, I found all of the shiny and small ones!"
