Happy Friday!

Outside time

Mrs. Hedges came around and handed out coups for students who have sold items for the fundraiser.

We read this story about our feelings!

(Thank you for sharing King family!)

During small group time we practiced counting with one to one correspondence and recognizing numbers.  I closely observed the children to see how we can support each child's learning moving forward.

We created with the pattern blocks independently.

We completed drawing our family members with Mrs. Dohrman.

During free choice time, one of the friends noticed two “wolves” outside.  Many of the friends ran to the window to see.

“Wait.  Those aren't wolves!  Those are dogs.”

“They are lost!  Where is their owner?”

“We need to get them back home!”

The friends noticed that the dogs ran into the trees, and they could no longer see the dogs.

“We lost them!  How can we help them now?”

“We could ask if anyone has seen the dogs!  Then that can help us fund them so we can help them get home!”

We made signs to alert our school that two dogs are missing.  We then used what we have learned so far about graphs to collect and record information from other teachers and students.

Because this experience is meaningful to the children, their minds are fully engaged. Experiences that excite and engage children are difficult to contrive.  In early childhood education, we look for opportunities to incorporate student excitement and interest to meet learning goals.

Thank you Mrs. Borcherding for reading to us in the library!  Next week when we go to the library we will check out books.  :)

This afternoon I met individually with the students to practice letter formation and name writing.
