This morning during Jesus time we read a book about the World that God Made.  We learned that God made us special because He made us, people, in His image!

"I have called you by name.  You are mine."  Isaiah 43:1

Outside time

We love the outdoor classroom!

"I made a cross for Jesus!"

Before snack time, we practiced our bible verse for the week.  The friends who wanted a turn stood and said the verse to all of the friends.

Before story time, we stretched and engaged our brains!

Story time

During small group time we continued to work to  recognize our names and the letters in our names. God made each friend unique, therefore success looks different for each friend. Success for some friends is matching upper and lower case letters. Success for some fiends is recognizing the letters in their name. Success for some friends is sounding out the letters in their names. We celebrate all success in our class and challenge/encourage the friends accordingly.

With Mrs. Dohrman, the friends added stickers to the number line we created yesterday.  The worked to identify the numbers, and count out the same amount of stickers.  This strengthens important foundational math skills including counting, applying one to one correspondence, and number recognition.

The friends practiced writing their name with me.  We are working to develop correct pencil grip.  :)

Look how our friends are already helping each other!

Before free choice time, we added our names to the alphabet.  This will help us learn letters and their sounds in a meaningful way.

Free choice time

"These keys are the same!"

"Do you want to have a picnic?"

One of the friends sorted the chips by color!  Great job applying this important foundational math skill!

"This one is heavier."

"Let's make a caboose on it."

"Yeah!"

"These rocks are really shiny."

"This one looks like gold!"

During afternoon meeting we voted on whether the friends wanted to go outside before we have second free choice or not.  We voted and outside won the vote.

Back in the classroom, we had free choice time.

Mrs. Lipsey read to many of the friends during free choice.  :)
