During Jesus time this week we are learning about the first sin.  Because of sin, we need a Savior!  God sent Jesus to die on the cross and rise again to save us!

"I, the Lord, am your Savior." Isaiah 60:16

Outside time

During small group time we applied what we have learned about graphing and collecting information.  The friends each chose a question and tracked their friends responses. This increases writing skills as well as one to one correspondence.

The friends also wrote words in their journals. We write our letters starting at the top.  When you work with your child at home, I encourage you to remind your children of that.  :)

With Mrs. Dohnrman, the friends practiced recognizing numbers as they rolled a number dice.  They then jumped that many times!

Free choice time

Block play encourages problem solving, spatial relationship skills, creativity, and persistence!

The friends were excited to use play doh today.  We made a sign up sheet to know who's turn it is to play with the play doh.  This gives children a natural reason to write and increases writing skills.

Play doh increases fine motor skills, creativity, and spurs discussion between the friends.

The leader of the day reviewed the alphabet with the friends.  If you notice letters in your everyday lift at the point them out to your children.  This helps provide a context for learning that letters make up words and words have meaning.

During afternoon meeting we sang songs to increase our phonemic awareness and number sense.

Second free choice

"These are both dragonflies."

Investigating rocks

We noticed that some rocks are smooth and some are rough.  We discussed ways to tell the difference between the rough rocks and smooth rocks.

We then added the words "rough" and "smooth" to enhance our exploration.

Exploring in the blocks

Look how we show God's love to each other!  These friends were reading a book together.
