This morning during Jesus time we reviewed how God made the world just for us!  He loves us so much.  He sent Jesus to be our Savior from sin!

Outside time

We love our outdoor classroom!

We were looking for more pill bugs this morning.  We turned over rocks to see if we could find any hiding.

We then moved other items to see if there were pill bugs hiding under them.  We couldn't find any!  We then brainstormed where else they could be hiding.

During small group time the friends drew a picture of each member of their family.  Tomorrow we will graph these pictures.

The friends continued to practice recognizing numbers, counting, one to one correspondence, and number recognition as they rolled the dice and laced the beads.

Finally, the friends dictated what they know about Jesus.  I wrote what they said on their drawings from yesterday.  I can't wait to see how the Holy Spirit will work to grow the friends' faith as the year progresses!

During free choice time we were excited to see our mud kitchen delivered!  A huge thank you to Mr. John Mierow, father of our 6th grade teacher Mrs. Rachel Miller, for making and donating this for our outdoor classroom!

We are collecting other items for the classroom too!  If you are looking to find a new home for any of the following items, we ask that you prayerfully consider donating them to our outdoor classroom.

metal pots and pans
metal serving spoons
tall, skinny plastic bottles (for water exploration area)
flower pots
bird houses

While we were out there we found a caterpillar.  We had a lively discussion on whether it was a caterpillar or a centipede.

The friends then helped move other items out to the outdoor classroom.

"I will walk backwards and you tell me when I need to be careful."

During free choice time the friends sorted rocks with letters and rocks with pictures.

We then put the rocks with pictures on the walkway into the outdoor classroom.

Look how we help our friends!  We have created a classroom community!

This afternoon we explored the letters in the literacy area of the outdoor classroom.

We also learned how to play tic tac toe!

For your information, as we left the outdoor classroom this afternoon we noticed a bit of poison ivy.  To be on the safe side, we washed all the children's arms and legs with blue Dawn dish soap.  Please check your child this evening just in case.  The poison ivy will be sprayed, and we will not return to the classroom until it is gone.
