"I, the Lord, am your Savior."  Isaiah 60:16

This morning we learned that God created everything perfect, but sin brought troubles and bad changes.  God is merciful, and He sent His perfect Son, Jesus, to save us and give us the promise of life in heaven.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, ask God to forgive you when you sin.  He will faithfully do so for Jesus' sake.

The friends helped act out the story this morning!

During small group time we explored shapes with pattern blocks.

With Mrs. Zwettler the friends worked on their family portraits.  If they completed it yesterday, they went to work with Mrs. Helmkamp. (See picture below.).

With Mrs. Helmkamp we practiced sorting.  Sorting is an important foundational math skill.  Children need to learn to sort before they do more complex math skills such as patterning.

With me, the friends worked to retell the story of Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash.

(They wanted to be silly in the picture.  :) )

We worked on retelling the story and strengthened our fine motor skills as we used clothespins to "hang up the wash."

Outside time

Free choice time

Some of the friends chose to "take notes" during free choice time.  :)

The friends watch me take notes an observations during free choice time.  Modeling writing is one way to encourage children to write.

Some friends continued to work on sorting.

During morning meeting we continued to discuss similar, same, and different.  I grouped the counting frogs in various ways, and the friends discussed how they were the same and how they were different.   This encourages the children to think about how they are sorting and how they could sort things in more ways than just by color.

Second outside time

During second small group time, we worked to cut out pictures of creation from magazines.

We also continued to explore shapes with pattern blocks.

With me, we explored sorting by various properties.

Free choice time

We are very interested in books!  Fostering the love of reading is an important part of pre-kindergarten.
