During Jesus time this morning we read a big book about all of the things God made.

(Big books are great especially to draw the children's attention to the print.  When you read with your child, model tracking the words. Tracking is when you drag your finger under the words that you read.  This increases the connection between spoken word and written print as well as models tracking for future reading.)

We learned that God's favorite thing He made is us!  We were created in His image.

I shared with the friends how I often forget my friends' phone numbers.  I showed them my phone and told them that the phone allows me to remember all of my friends' phone numbers.

We learned that God doesn't need a phone to know us.  He knows everything about us because He created us and He loves us!  He knows every hair on our head and every word from our mouth.

We then reviewed our bible verse this wee, "I have called you by name; you are mind." Isaiah 43:1

One of our friends wore the perfect shirt for our Jesus time today!

On Tuesdays and Thursdays Mrs. Helmkamp and our afternoon 3 year old friends spend the whole day with us!  Mrs. Helmkamp led one of the small groups this morning.  The friends chose something that they like to do, and they drew a picture of it.  The friends dictated to Mrs. Helmkamp about their picture, and Mrs. Helmkamp wrote exactly what they said.  This, again, strengthens the correlation between spoken word and written print as well as provides us with a language sample for the children.

With me, the friends continued to match upper and lower case letters to make their name.

With Mrs. Zwettler the friends completed their self portraits from yesterday.

They also chose an emotion for a poster about our emotions that we will make together

Outside time

Free choice time

During free choice time the goal is to deepen and enrich the children's play.

Signs of deep and rich play include:

Assigning roles: "You be the mom and I will be the sister"

Planning play: "Pretend I was sick and you had to take me to the doctor."

Picking up a play scenario where it previously left off.

During morning meeting we again played the rhyme and erase game.

We then read a book about the different parts of our bodies.  We practiced identifying even tricky ones like ankles, wrists, and elbows.  :)

Second outside time

We continued to work with the letters in our name during small group time.

We also created with play doh.

With Mrs. Lipsey, the friends practiced using scissors.
