Happy Birthday Hannah!  We are so glad that God brought you here in our class!

"I have called you by name; you are mine." Isaiah 43:1

Today we reminded each other that we are all children of God!

We dipped our finger in water to remember our baptism.  We then made the sign of the cross on each other's heads and said to one another, "You are a child of God!"

We then met our Zippy puppet, and Zippy couldn't remember my name!  The friends had to help him!  We then discussed how it's hard to remember each other's names sometimes, especially in a new class!  However, God never forgets us.  He knows us inside and out because He created us!  He loves us!

We then said the Lord's prayer together.

We practiced identifying various emotions.  We remembered that Jesus loves us no matter how we feel!

During small group time, the friends worked on a fingerprint artwork with Mrs. Zwettler.

With Mrs. Helmkamp, the friends practiced making various emotion faces with the play doh.  With each emotion, Mrs. Helmkamp reminded the friends that Jesus loves them no matter how they feel!

With me, the friends worked to find the letters in their names.

Then, they practiced writing their names on our name graph! We practiced using comparative words as we wrote.

"His name is longer than mine."

"My name is shorter than his."

At home, continued to use comparative words (taller, smaller, shorter, longer, etc.) with your child.

We made it outside before the rain!  Praise God!

Learning opportunities are all around us- even outside!  Today, there was a great opportunity for social and language growth and social development as some of the friends made rules to a racing game!  (This not only increases language development, but it also increases self-regulation.) They shook hands on the rules and cheered each other on.

Free choice time

The other day I mentioned the importance of deep, rich play.  There are questions that we, as adults, can ask that will help guide children to that deep, rich play.

"Tell me about what you are playing."  (This helps children verbalize what they are playing.)

"What is your job in the game?" (This helps children learn to assign roles in future play)

"What are you going to do next?" (This helps children learn to plan their play)

Second outside time

During second small group time, we practiced using scissors with Mrs. Lipsey.

Independently, the friends created with play doh.

With me, the friends helped each other find the letters in their names!

Second free choice
