This morning we greeted each other with our good morning song!

We then practiced clapping out syllables as we greeted each other individually.  This is a part of our daily routines.  We were silly today and greeted the "chair" and the "table."  When you are at home, you can clap out syllables with your child too!  This will help increase their phonemic awareness.  Research shows that children who have strong phonemic awareness skills tend to be strong readers!

We then challenged Mrs. D. to a game of dominoes!  We practiced subitizing (seeing how many items are in a set without counting) as we matched the numbers and described what number is matching.

"You have two - I need to find a matching two."

It was then time to go outside!

After snack we went to work!

The friends are so motivated to write their books.  At the end of the day we read each other's books.  We decided that each page needs illustrations and words before we can read it to our friends.

Playing dominoes

Our block creations continue to become more intricate each day!  The friends are learning so much about spatial reasoning, creative thinking, and cooperation.

"Is it magnetic?"

Working on our sculptures

"I'm making a robot!"

Our friends have been collaborating in the puzzles as well!
