This morning we began with devotions as a school for a few minutes.  It is National Lutheran Schools Week, but we are calling it National Lutheran Schools Week "decaf" because we will do our full our celebration in March when (hopefully) we are able to do celebrate fully!

Mr. Marquardt led our devotion today about Jesus' washing the disciples feet.  We discussed how we can serve and show God's love to our friends here at school!

We had a dance party in our classroom and then went to work!

"I am writing the title for my book.  It's called Mrs. Douglas Class."

We problem solved about the bridge together.  We persevered through some frustration to continue to find a plan that will work!

The friends noticed the rain outside.

I opened the door and we listened to the rain for a minute.

"It sounds like ice!"

"Is it snow?"

I stepped on the ice to show the friends the sound.

"It is ice!"

We were so excited when the ice turned to snow!

I don't often take pictures of this, but I really should.  Each day at the end of the day, the friends read their books to the class.  There are a few criteria that has to be met to read to the class:
1. words on every page
2. illustrations on every page
3. a title
4. the name of the author on the book

The friends are excited to share their writings with each other.
We celebrate the friends work and creativity!
This motivates our friends even more to write.  If your child brings a book home, ask him / her to read it to your family.  The words might not be written conventionally, but allow your child to read it.  He / she knows what was written!  We are fostering a love of reading and writing as well as confidence in those skills.
