This morning we continued our work on our Christmas break book.  Once again we noticed no illustrations!  We asked Mrs. D to read us the book with no pictures.

Once again we laughed and laughed as we read this funny book.  We want our friends to enjoy reading and books, and they definitely enjoy this book!

I left my phone inside on accident during outside time, so we have no pictures from outside time today.
:(

When we came back inside we met Ms. Sarah Sugita.  She is the sister of our third grade teacher, Ms. Sugita.  Ms. Sarah is in school learning to become an early childhood teacher as well.  She enjoyed meeting our awesome friends!

During free choice work time the friends continued their play scenario in the hot drink cafe.

We read the menus, ordered, and paid for our items.  The friends are assigning roles and planning their play.  This is a sign of deep, rich play.  Deep, rich play is an important developmental step that encourages cognitive development in many areas!

We decided that we need more items for our area.  The friends worked to make a list.  Even though the friends are not writing conventionally, they are still writers.  They are progressing through the very important developmental stages of writing as they work towards writing conventionally.  We work to foster a love of writing and naturally incorporate it into all we do.

During snack time we had a discussion about mold.  One of the friends wondered if we should learn about mold next.  I said, "Why don't you survey your friends using a graph to find out if they want to learn about mold?"  So the friend did!  We have learned strategies (such as surveys and graphs) and are now independently applying them!

The friends also worked together to sort the letters and numbers.

"You are on the number.  You take the numbers. I am on the letter team.  I will take the letters."

During Jesus time we reviewed the story of the wise men visiting Jesus at Ephipany.
"Arise, shine, for your light has come!"  Isaiah 60:1

Because we are sinners, we need a Savior.  The Holy Spirit works the gift of faith in our hearts through the Gospel.  Praise be to God for the gift of faith!
