We have quite a bit of sickness going around our school.  To help combat the sickness as much as possible, we in Pre-K are asking all children to wash their hands upon arrival at school and at dismissal.  Please know that we are doing all we can to sanitize surfaces, manipulatives, etc. to help fight the germs.  I encourage you to do the same at home.  :)

The friends were excited to explore more of the light projector today.  The friends are exploring the properties of light.

"Can you move?  Your hand is blocking the light."

"Why do the shiny tangrams not block the light when the other ones do?"

"My hand looks really big in the shadow!"

Thank you Mrs. Morris for helping us this morning!  We continue to pray for Mrs. Zwettler's children who are sick at home.

During morning meeting we played the game from yesterday.  We counted out ten marbles.  I then hid some of the ten marbles under a cup.  We counted how many marbles were left, and estimated how many marbles were hidden.  This game lays a strong foundation for important math skills including addition and subtraction.

Outside time- yay!

After we went outside, we had a tornado drill.  We practiced being very quiet and putting our hands above our heads to protect our heads.

Due to the tornado drill, our outside time was cut short.  We had a dance party in the classroom to provide more time to engage our large muscle group.

During small group time we did another still life artwork with Mrs. Morris.

We explored the light!

We also webbed what we now know about flower shops/flowers.  We webbed what we wonder as well.  This helps us identify what we have learned and aslo re-focus our project to answer student questions.

During second free choice, some of the friends discovered that when a magnifying glass is put up to the light, it shines rainbow colors!

We also made a few changes to the flower shop.  The friends were helpful and excited to deepen their dramatic play.

Second outside time

During second free choice we added details to our still life artwork.

We explored the light.

With me, we continued to web what we know and what we wonder about flowers/flower shops.
