Happy Birthday Owen!  We are so thankful that God brought you to our class!

Our friends were very excited to explore the nature area this morning!  The friends are learning properties of weight as they experiment with the balance.  They are also using comparative words.

"This rock is heaver and the seed is lighter."

Jordan drew what he observed on the nature table.

We love to connect the tracks!  Look how our track building has grown!

Many of the friends used creativity to make new things in the creation station!

Dramatic play in the flower shop promotes language development as well as important social skills.  It also provides an opportunity for new questions for the project to arise.

"How much do the flowers cost?"

Block and play dough creations

During morning meeting, we did a new greeting song.  This song helps us develop a strong classroom community!

We counted out how many marbles were in the estimation jar.  Today there were 15!

We "stopped" the jar when it landed on the number 15 increasing our number recognition.

After we counted, we practiced counting backwards from 10.  :)
This lays a strong foundation for future math learning including subtraction!

Dominick helped us read a big book this morning!

I forgot the iPad in the classroom when we went to the gym this morning.  We did some freeze running and hopping.  (This, again, increases self-regulation as well as engages our large muscle group.)

We then played with the balls and hula hoops.

During small group time, the author table was filled with friends excited to write new books. :)

With Mrs. Zwettler, we worked on our bouquets.

With me, the friends observed the sprouts from our seeds.  We had a natural discussion about the sprouts.

"What is a sprout?"
"Why are some sprouted and not others?"

We want to see this sort of inquiry from the children as it guides and directs our learning throughout the project.

We then worked to write the cover for our flower book.  We will use this book to document all of the changes we notice in the flowers as they grow!

During Jesus time we reviewed the story of the 10 Lepers.  We learned that Jesus healed 10 men, but only one returned to thank God.  We discussed that sometimes we forget to thank God too.  We then discussed that Jesus always forgives us and He always loves us!  We then took time to thank God for the gift of salvation. :)

Second free choice

Levi wrote his own number line!

Mason and Dominick were measuring various classroom items.

"Guys!  Get together!  Mrs. Douglas can you take our picture?"  :)

During small group time we practiced recognizing numbers with a number bingo.

We continued to work on our books.

We also finished our number line!
