Here are some pictures from Friday's dentist visit!  :)

Today the friends were excited to be together again!

We love the "counter" animals!  These manipulatives provide the opportunity to practice sorting by various properties, counting, and imaginative play.

The friends have been working to label their creations.  Labeling work is a foundational reading and writing skill that will benefit the children as they continue to learn.

Eli independently made a "No Pushing" sign for the classroom.  We worked together to write the words for his sign.

Morning meeting time!

We added more numbers to our estimation jar this week.  This morning we counted to see how many marbles were in the jar.  There were 13!  We will continue to practice numbers 1-15 in the morning estimation jar.  This allows the children to practice estimating, counting, recognizing numbers, and writing numbers.

In a few weeks, we will work all the way up to 20 marbles in the jar.

Jordan our librarian helped us read one of the big books!

We asked more questions about flowers and flower shops.  I documented the questions so that they can guide our exploration of flower shops and flowers.

As the friends were asking questions about flowers, we noticed what a great job they were doing at formulating questions.  This is a tricky skill!  Great job friends!

Gym time :)

During small group time, the friends sang the song below with me to help with phoneme segmenting.   I encourage you to sing this song at home with your child too!  (I changed the words in the second to say "I will say the name very slow.")

We also made a thank you card to Gillespie Flower Shop for allowing us to take our field trip there tomorrow.

Mrs. Zwettler worked with the friends to paint coffee filters.  We will use these to make flowers for a bouquet!

During Jesus time we learned the story of Zaccheaus.  We learned that Jesus loves us no matter what bad choices we make.  He died on the cross and rose again to save us from all of our sins!

Second free choice

During small group time we played a "What's missing?" game to increase memory and cognitive capabilities.

The friends also read books using their pointers.

With Mrs. Zwettler, the friends sang the garden song from the morning to practice phoneme segmenting and blending.
