This morning we switched the creation station and the manipulatives area to create more space for our many creations!  Creative thinking is the highest level thinking skill, according to the updated Bloom's taxonomy. The friends engage in creative thinking as they use the "good junk" to create various treasures!

Working together in the blocks and marble works.

Dominick led us in the alphabet this morning during morning meeting.

Owen helped us with the calendar.

Before we went to the gym, the friends requested to freeze dance, so we did!  :)  Freeze dancing promotes self-regulation (the ability to control impulses).

We shared the gym with the MOP's group this morning.  :)

During small group time, we plated a few more seeds.  We also added seeds to our window to see what will happen.  We will keep a journal together of what we observe. The children are increasing their observation skills as well as inquiring about the world around them.

We discussed how the plants do not blow away when it is windy outside.

"They are super strong!"

"I think they have roots?"

"They are too tall to blow away!"

We will investigate this further throughout our project.  :)

The friends were excited to create more books today!

With mrs. Zwettler, the friends worked to put together a bouquet from the flowers we made last week.  We will continue to work on this bouquet all week.

During Jesus time we learned the story of the 10 lepers.  Jesus healed all 10 men, but only 1 came back to thank Him.  We learned that sometimes we forget to thank God.  However, Jesus forgives us and loves us no matter what!  We then thanked God for sending Jesus to die on the cross and rise again to save us from our sins.

During second free choice time the friends engaged in dramatic play in the flower shop.

Mary moved the clipboards to the flower shop to easily collect flower orders.

We used some old cell phones to enhance our play.  The friends also took orders over the phone.

We switched the legos to explore nature items.  The friends are exploring properties of weight as they experiment with the balance. They are also using measurement skills as they see how many rocks it takes to fill up a ruler.

Some of the friends continued to work on their books.  They also created new books!

Creation station fun!

Some of the friends created an elaborate play scenario with many of the manipulatives.

During small group time we practiced ordering numbers 1-10.

We also played a number bingo that increases number recognition.

With me, the friends practiced counting and one to one correspondence as we made our own number chart.
