During chapel this morning Mr. Borcherding shared with us that even when we make mistakes, Jesus always loves us!

Morning meeting

We love big books!

Practicing segmenting phonemes together

I forgot the iPad when we went outside.  :(

Back in the classroom, we had some free choice time.

During small group time we played in the flower shop.

We also painted with a unique paintbrush- flowers!

We also investigated and observed carnations from the flower shop yesterday.

We noticed the little lines in the flower.  We also noticed that some parts of the flower are different colors.

It is important to allow children first-hand experiences with items as children construct their own knowledge based on their experiences.  Children are capable of memorizing facts about flowers, parts of the flower, etc. without first hand experiences.  However memorized information without experience is lacking in meaning for the child and therefore often not committed to long-term memory.   However, information linked to first-hand experiences is the perfect equation for engaging children's minds.  :)

During second free choice, the friends continued to explore the flowers.

The friends figured out how to put the petals under the paper and color on top to make a petal rubbing!

During small group time we continued to investigate the flowers further.

We read big books together.

We also practiced segmenting phonemes with Mrs. Lipsey.
