This morning the friends worked together to put the train together.  The friends had different ideas about how they should be put together.  We worked to together to talk about how we can solve the problem.  In the end, the friends decided to take a vote to solve the problem.  Learning such conflict resolution strategies and problem solving are foundational skills that will benefit the children throughout their lives.

Some of the friends chose to write their own book during free choice time!  They worked to sound out the words and add illustrations.  This intrinsic motivation to learn and apply what we have learned will benefit the children throughout their lives!

Play dough fun :)

Ezra wanted to share his book during morning meeting, so he read it to the class.  The other friends then asked if they could make their own books during small group time.  That sounded like a great idea to me!  :)

We practiced crossing our body as we wrote BIG letters in the air.

We then took turns using a "microphone" to practice segmenting and blending.

We played on the big playground outside

During small group time, the friends practiced sorting seeds.  Sorting is a foundational math skill.  They also strengthened their fine motor skills in this activity as some of the seeds were very small.

With Mrs. Zwettler, the friends cut out flowers from their painting yesterday.

With me, the friends worked to write their own books.  This increases concepts of print, letter writing, letter/sound correlation, expressive language, and strengthens the awareness of the connection between spoken word and written print.  This would be a fun activity for you to do at home with your child as well!

During Jesus time we reviewed the story of Zaccheaus.  We learned that the story is reminds us that no matter what bad things we do, Jesus will always love and forgive us.

The friends wanted to continue to work on their books during second free choice!

Some of the friends wanted to sort some more too!

We were able to enjoy the beautiful weather outside too!

During second small groups we sorted the seeds.

We also practiced segmenting phonemes with Mrs. Lipsey.
