Look!  Something visited our classroom today and left tracks behind!

The friends brainstormed how a leprechaun got in our classroom and where he went from there.  They were so excited!  Some of the friends made traps for the leprechaun!

(FYI- At the end of the day I told the friends it was all a trick by Mrs. Douglas.  I did not want them to go home scared.)

Jordan made a trap!

Ezra made a hat for the leprechaun.

Karissa drew a map of where the leprechaun possibly went.

We put our search for the leprechaun on hold for library time.  Thank you Mrs. Davis for reading to us!

After the stories were over, I read a clue I found to help us find the leprechaun.

(A special thank you to CP, Kennedy's dad, who helped us hunt for the leprechaun!)

"Ready for St. Patrick's Day fun?  Let's get hydrated and find clue one!"

We discussed what "hydrated" meant.  Some of the friends wanted to check the water fountain, so we did!

The second clue was not at the water fountain.  We had to think of other places we go to get a drink.  After checking the second water fountain, the friends had the idea to check the water bottle tub.

The second clue was in the water bottle tub!

"March 17th brings out lots of green.  Clue two is where we go to get clean."

The friends guessed the bathroom and ran to check in there!

They found a written message, but no clue... so they thought of other places the clue could be...

They checked the sink!  The next clue was on the soap!

"Finding this clue will be a treat!  Look for it where you get something to eat!"

The friends first checked the snack tub, but there was no clue in there!

They decided to check the lunch room!

There was a clue in there!

"Hickory Dickory dock, the next clue is in the ______!"

The friends checked the gym clocks, but no clue there...

We found the next clue in our classroom!

"The next place that you will look is the place where you can find a good book!"

The friends wanted to check the bookshelf.  They took all of the books off, but there were no clues in there.  We then headed to the library!

Mrs. May, the 5th grade teacher, stopped by to see if we had found the leprechaun yet.  We have such an amazing staff here at Our Shepherd!

In the library, the 5th grade helped us look for the next clue.

There it is!

"Look where things are kept fresh and cold.  This place keeps our food from getting old!"

The friends wanted to check the refrigerator in the kitchen, so off to the kitchen we went!

Nope- no clues in here!

We then checked the fridge in the classroom.

There is the last clue!

"Looking for the final prize?  Look in the place where you can see your eyes!"

I then read the message that says, "See you next year!"  :)

After all that hunting, we went to the gym to run around!

During small group time, we did some science and art shamrock fun!

We made leprechaun hat with Mrs. Zwettler.

With CP, we practiced counting and one to one correspondence.  The friends had a pot of gold or shamrock with a number on it.  They identified the number and then counted our the correpsonding amount of charms!  (The friends were able to eat them once they counted them.  :) )

We then reviewed our Jesus time story.  We thanked God for the gift of salvation through Jesus' death and resurrection!

Second free choice

We experimented with the droppers, water, food coloring, and salt.

During second small groups we sang guitar songs about Jesus!

We also practiced recognizing numbers with Mrs. Lipsey by playing number bingo!
