Happy Birthday Joshua! We are so thankful that God brought you to our class!

During Jesus time we reviewed the story of the feeding of the 5,000.

We then thanked Jesus for all of the yummy food we are blessed with!

We then sang song of thanks and praise.

Today Officer Dave, Henry's dad, came to visit us!  He answered questions we have about car safety and shared with us about his job as a Police Officer.

Officer Dave gave us a ticket that we can use to enhance our play!

We then walked outside to see the Police car.

Officer Dave showed us the engine and the black box of information that Police Officers can use to find information about what the car has done.

He turned on the lights for us to see.

He showed us some of the tools he uses to help people!

Many of the friends had questions about how to get in a car when the keys are missing.  Officer Dave showed us how the Police can help you get into your car when your keys are locked in the car or missing.

The friends who wanted to had a chance to push the horn and siren!

Thank you Officer Dave!

Free choice time

"I am making this into a police car!"

"Mrs. Douglas you look realllllllly big!"

Some friends made a marble maze!  Great creative thinking!

During morning meeting we still had many questions about police officers.  We read a book about police officers.

Many of the friends shared that they want to be a police officer when they grow up.  We took a vote to compare how many friends want to be a police officer and how many do not want to be a police officer.  (I reminded the friends that God made us all different and it is okay if one friend wants to be a police officer and another friend doesn't.)

Second free choice time

We made a thank you note for Officer Dave.

Creation station

One of the friends could not find a pointy piece of paper.  I asked him how we could solve the problem.  He made his own!  :)

Many of the friends wanted to make our cars into Police cars.  They worked to make labels that say "Police" for the cars.

The friends helped each other write Police too!

The friends wanted to make a police station for our classroom.  We found a big box that we could use.  One of the friends made directions for how we could make the police station!

Writing tickets

Painting the police station

Exploring maps helps develop foundational geography skills.

"Where is Danville?"

(I circled Danville)

"Where is Avon?"

(I circled Avon)

"Wow!  Danville and Avon are close to each other."

"Where is Florida?"

(I showed them Florida)

"Wow!  Florida is a long way away!"

"Yeah when we went there it took two days!"

During small group time we practiced recognizing numbers.

We worked with Mrs. Helmkamp to make part of the jail for the police station.

We also discussed jobs that people do.

During goodbye time we read this book!  I encourage you to discuss with your children at home jobs that people do.  Talk to your child about what you do when you go to work or what you do when you stay home.
