During Jesus time this morning we reviewed the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 people.  Our God is powerful!  We sang songs of thanks and praise for all of the good gifts He has given us.  The best gift that he gives us is the gift of salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus!

During small group time we strengthened our fine motor skills as we threaded buttons.

Mr. Doug was our guest classroom aide today!  Thank you Doug for all of your help!

With Doug, the friends practiced recognizing numbers as they played Bingo.

With me, the friends drew a map from school to their house! When you are driving in the car with your child, I encourage you to look out the window and discuss what you see.

Gym time!

While we were in the gym, the 6th and 7th graders came in to help out the chairs down for lunch.  They stopped for a big and joined in on our dance party.

Free choice time

"I see we have 7:00 ready for you."

The friends explored concepts of weight with the new balance.

"This rock is the heaviest!  No rock can beat it."

Working together

"Let's make it higher!"

"Yeah!"

Expressing creativity through painting and creating

The friends created a game for Doug.  They hid a car in one of the wooden structures, and he had to guess where it was hidden.  :)

Our paper airplane expert wrote directions for others who want to make a paper airplane!  This was a great time to engage in meaningful writing.

Our leader of the day helped us practice the alphabet.

During our morning message we have been discussion the punctuation.  In the book today, one of the friends noticed the explanation point.  Another friend wondered why the dog was using the trumpet.  We used this time to engage our critical thinking skills.  Here are some of our ideas:

"He is trying to get someone's attention."

"He blew the trumpet so people can hear them."

"The sign is attached to a string in the trumpet.  He had to blow the trumpet to make the sign come out so other people can see he needs help."

In second gym time we had a dance party!

During second small group time we practiced correct letter formation.

We practiced comparing numbers when presented as numerals with me.  We used weighted numbers to show which number has more.  (For example the 10 weighs more than 7.)

With Doug we practiced identifying numbers as we played Bingo.

Free choice time

One of the friends sounded out the letters in my name to write me a note.  This was a good time to practice meaningful writing and use letter/sound knowledge.

Creation station

The friends answered the question of the day too.  We practiced identifying letters, spaces between the words, and the punctuation we saw.
