During Jesus time this morning we played a game similar to freeze tag to reinforce the story for the week.  Some of the friends were "blinders" making friends blind, and others were "Jesus's" healing the blind people.  We discussed how there is only one Jesus, but for the purposes of the game, we had more than one.

Just as Jesus healed the blind man, He leas us from our sin-sickness! He died and rose again to save us!

During small group time we engaged our senses as we rolled cars in shaving cream.  This sparked up many conversations!

"This shaving cream looks like a liquid."

"There are two sets of tracks, but for wheels.  Why?"

"Two of the wheels are on the same side."

"The shaving cream feels squishy."

With Mrs. Zwettler, we did an other observational drawing.  This time we drew one of our matchbox cars!

The friends also made car words using letter blocks.

During gym time we continued to play the "blinder" and "healer" game!  The friends did a great job not getting upset when they were "blind" and continuing with the game!  They showed good sportsmanship!

Free choice time

Math manipulatives, like the pattern blocks below, provide open ended exploration that also increases foundational math skills!

One of the friends got hurt and many friends quickly surrounded her with hugs.  Learning empathy is a social skill that will benefit the children throughout their lives.  More importantly, it is a way that we can show God's love.

"I am a mechanic.  See the M?  That means it's for mechanic."

During morning meeting we each took a turn with the "sharing stick."  When a friend is holding this stick, all other friends are listening with their eyes on the speaker. This develops positive social skills as well as language skills.

After all of the friends shared their stories, we took turns asking each other questions.  Forming a question on the spot at this age can be difficult.  We discussed that questions are mysteries that we can't solve without asking.  We continued to model questions and the friends caught on quickly!

"Are you going to the basketball game?"

"Where will you eat your special dinner?"

"Will you play basketball?"

Second free choice time

"Oh no!  A tsunami broke the ship!"

Sorting and matching numbers

At goodbye time we practiced identifying beginning and ending sounds of words.
