During Jesus time today Zippy the puppet came to visit again.  He shared with us that he was sorry that he was not grateful yesterday when he told the story of eating his favorite meal six times in a row.  We discussed how being grateful means we are happy with what we have.  We thank God for His many gifts; especially the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ!

During small group time, we practiced tracking print as we read big books.

We also played Feed the Kitty with Mrs. Helmkamp.  We practiced one to one correspondence and subitizing as we played.

We practiced those same things with Mrs. Zwetter as we played Chutes and Ladders.

With me, the friends illustrated their Jack - o - Happy book.

Outside time

During free choice time, we used the sign up sheet to determine who's turn it is at the cash register.  This helps the friends resolve their conflicts as well as provides an opportunity to practice writing! :)

Lego creations strengthen fine motor skills as well as encourage creative thinking.

As the friends purchase their groceries at the store, they are using foundational math skills.

"I have two bananas."  (One to one correspondence, counting, and subitizing)

"That will cost... (pushes the three button) three dollars."  (Number recognition)

"She has more food than I have."  (Comparing quantities)

Some friends wrote grocery lists at the creation station.

"This says store."

During morning meeting a few friends tracked the print while we read out Jack - o - Happy poem.

We then problem solved a few social situations and how we can handle them.  The friends volunteered to help act them out and then resolve them.

Social and emotional development are vital to children's success in life.  In Pre-K, we work intentionally to teach and work with the friends so that they can learn how to solve social conflicts and regulate their emotions.

We worked together to find a few solutions to the problem of two friends wanting the same spot.

Here are some of the solutions we came up with:

"He could give him the spot."

"He could find a different spot."

"He could say, 'How many minutes until my turn?'"

We then worked together to find solutions to the problem of two friends wanting the same toy at the same time.

We learned that we can say:

"How many minutes until my turn?"

or

"Can I have a turn?"

We discussed that we can show God's love when we let others have the first turn.

Second outside time

During small group time we practiced for our robot museum tomorrow.

The 4th grade saw us in the Narthex while they were cleaning the Sanctuary.  They invited us to pray with them!  We are thankful that we are in a school where we can pray to Jesus openly whenever we want!
