During Jesus time this morning we learned about the angel visiting Mary to tell her that she would have a baby - Jesus our Savior!

During small group time we played with the concept that numbers can be composed and decomposed to make new numbers.  The children had six pom pom balls ("ornaments") and used them to decorate two trees.  We discussed how there were six ornaments in all, but two were on one tree and four on the other.  We then mixed them up and tried again.  We found many different ways to make six!

This week in small group time we are working to increase our letter knowledge.  God created all children unique, and success is unique for each child. Success for some children is identifying all of the letters.  Success for some children is identifying the sounds of the letters.  Success for other children is identifying the letter by the beginning sound of a word.  We work with all children's success and work to scaffold them to the next level of success.

The friends also worked to paint a backdrop for the collaborative nativity scene that we will make.

Finally, they created in the blocks.

We had a severe weather drill after small group time during outside time.  The friends did a great job!

Free choice time

The friends were super excited about the Christmas books.  :)  This excitement about reading is something we want to foster in early childhood and throughout their lives!

"Look you guys! Christmas books!"

"CHRISTMAS BOOKS!  CHECK IT OUT!"

The friends loved the gift making center!

Second outside time

The friends were very interested in a green insect on the playground.

During small group time we continued to play with the concept of numbers being composed and decomposed into other numbers.

We continued to practice letter recognition, letter sounds, and identifying beginning sounds with Mrs. Zwettler.

With Mrs. Helmkamp the friends worked to paint the background for their very own nativity scene!

Second free choice

We love to make gifts for others!

Reading in the library center

The wonder window:

"I wonder why there are no oranges growing on that tree?"

"I wonder why the grass is not growing?"
