During Jesus time today we thanked God for all of His many gifts to us!

He sent Jesus to save us and gave us the gift of salvation!

During small group time the friends patterned independently.

They created turkeys with Mrs. Zwettler.

With me, the friends worked to write a design for a boat that they would create out of aluminum foil.  I told the friends that the boat has to float and hold a quarter.  We will test our boats to see if they float!  This encourages the children design skills as well as understanding of sink or float.

During morning meeting, our leader of the day read our special message.  She was also able to help write a message of her own!  This increases our concepts of print, letter recognition, and letter sound correspondence.

We also practiced letter formation!

Outside time

During small group time we practiced making words using puzzles. The great thing about these puzzles is that they can challenge those who need a challenge ("Can you sound out that word for me?") and support those who need support. ("Do you know what letter goes here? This letter has one big line and a small curve.  Trace the space.")

We also worked to cut out leaves.  The friends told me what they are thankful for, and they helped sound out the words as I wrote them.

The friends helped me write a sign for our thankful tree.  You are invited to take a leaf, write what you are thankful for, and tape it to our tree!
