Jesus is risen!  I pray that you had a restful Easter and had a chance to worship our risen Lord!

This morning the friends were excited to share stories of their Easter.  This is a great time to practice listening and language skills!

During small group time we painted water for our waterfall in the classroom.  It was fun!
(If there is paint on your child, have no fear!  It is washable! :) )

We also worked on a stained glass cross!

With me, the friends worked to paint a tree for our camping area in the dramatic play!

Outside, we noticed baby bunnies that had been born on the playground!  We practiced staying a safe distance away so as not to bother them.

Outside time

Mr. Huntington came to look at the bunnies and play with us!

Back inside, it was time for free choice!

The friends wanted to make a cave with the pieces of cardboard.  We did!  Allowing the friends to make decisions gives them ownership of their classroom and their learning.  We brainstormed ways to make the cave and how it would/would  not work.  They engaged in critical thinking skills and problem solving!

Tent fun :)

During Jesus time we reviewed the story of Easter.  We clapped and shouted,  "Alleluia!  Jesus is risen!"

Second free choice time

After outside time, we came back in for second small groups.

The friends used their creative skills to make a bird out of good junk, paper, and glue!

With Mrs. Lipsey, the friends painted yellow and orange for our campground sun.

With me, the friends practiced sounding out letters and words to make signs for our campground.
