Happy Monday!

Today we started our new daily schedule.  The friends did a great job!

During morning meeting we played a rhyming game similar to London bridges.  When a friend was "caught" in the bridge, he/she shared two words that rhyme!  This give the friends an opportunity to be moving as well as practice rhyming which is an important phonemic awareness skill.

Right after morning meeting, we started small group time.  Independently, the friends worked to color parts of the Easter story.  We will use these to make a craft that will help us retell the Easter story- the most important story of all!

Mrs. Zwettler is sick, so please keep her in your prayers!
Thank you Mrs. Andrews for helping our class today!
With Mrs. Andrews, the friends practiced identifying numbers, one to one correspondence, and counting as they counted out beans in to the cup.

With me, the friends dictated what a flower needs to grow.  This informal assessment provides insight to what the friends have learned so far.

Praise God for the beautiful weather!

Free choice time

During free choice time, we look for the friends beginning to plan their play and assign various roles.  (This helps produce strong executive function skills.)

Planning play often sounds like the following:

"Pretend I am the cat and I fell down.  Then you had to come rescue me."

Assigning roles often sound like:

"I am driving to the flower shop.  You be the customer."

These are important skills that we look for as the friends engage in free choice.

During Jesus time we read the story of Jesus' death and resurrection!

Second free choice

Second outside

During second small group time, the friends practiced subitizing, number recognition, one to one correspondence, and counting with a roll and "plant" game.

The friends practiced making letters with the letter dough.

With me, I wrote an uppercase letter and the friends wrote the corresponding lower case letter.
