This morning we learned more about the true story of Jacob.  We learned that after Jacob ran away, he had a dream of heaven! God reminded him, "I am with you wherever you go." Even when we make bad choices, God is right there to forgive us.  He will never stop loving us!

Gym time!

During story time, we learned some Spanish words!  We learned cabeza (head), pies (feet), and brazos (arms).

During small group time we practiced sorting and patterning!

The friends observed the grasshopper and noticed that it is turning brown.

"I think he needs grass! He is hungry!"

We added to our symmetrical paintings today too!

The grasshopper was looking brown, so the friends decided that we should let him go so he doesn't die.

After we let the grasshopper go, we went on a pattern hunt.  We looked for patterns in our daily environment.  (I encourage you to do this with your child too!)

We noticed the kindergarteners hard work was also filled with patterns.

We noticed a up and over pattern in the carpet.

We noticed it in the ceiling too!

One of the fiends noticed symmetry on the sanctuary doors!

Free choice time

The fiends dictated to me all that they have learned about bugs throughout the project so far.  I encourage you to take a look at all we have learned!  (This paper is hanging on the inside of our classroom door.)

We love the write and wipe boards!

During morning meeting we discussed how we can celebrate all of our learning through the bug project.  The friends had lots of ideas!  The one that they are most excited about is a bug parade! They decided that they would each choose a bug to be in the parade.

Afternoon free choice

Many friends chose to make a rendering of their chosen bug out of play dough.  This increases fine motor strength, creative thinking, problem solving, persistence, and attention to the details of the bug.

"I am making my grasshopper.  He has six legs - three on each side."

Working on a butterfly

"I made the three body parts for my ant!"

Some of the friends used the bug books for inspiration as they created their bug out of play dough.

"We can write bug words over here. Ladybug... L-L-ladybug. L!"

Some of the butterflies

One of the friends used a real cricket for inspiration for her 3-D rendering.

"I made the compound eyes for the ladybug."

"Let's hop like a grasshopper."
