This morning Pastor Matt led chapel.  He shared with us how we can praise God in all we do!

We celebrated baptism birthdays in chapel today too!  If you are interested in having your child baptized, please let me know.

The friends enjoyed the cooler weather today!  The friends with boots had fun walking in the puddles outside.

"The wind is making my hair crazy!"

Exploring the outdoor classroom

We found lots of worms!

As we were walking in, the friends heard a pounding sound. This provided a topic of rich discussion between our friends.

"I think it's a woodpecker."

"Woodpecker?  What's that?"

"You know the bird that eats the tree?"

"No, no I think it's thunder."

"I hear it again! It sounds like a hammer."

It is important to allow children the time to wonder about their world, what they see, hear smell, etc.  This increases inquiry.  Inquiry is imperative for meaningful learning.  :)

Once back in the classroom, the friends were excited to continue work to make a 3-D rendering of their chosen bug.

We used books with real pictures for inspiration.

"I made an ant.  See the head, thorax, and abdomen."

Some friends wrote words with Mr. Anderson. (Mr. Anderson helped in our classroom this morning while Mrs. Dohrman is out.)

"I'm working on the six legs."

Some friends chose good junk to use to make their 3-D rendering of their bug.

During afternoon meeting we sang songs to increase our phonemic awareness.
