Welcome back!  We had a great day here in Pre-K!

This morning the friends were excited to measure themselves using the pumpkins on the wall.  This is not only fun, but also increases number recognition as well as measurement skills.

As usual, the creation station was quite popular!

The friends worked to resolve their conflicts. They did a great job!  Positive conflict resolution is a skill that will benefit the children throughout their lives!

Time to exercise our large motor skills outside!

During small group time, we worked to draw pictures for a finger play that we are learning.
We will use these pictures to make a book to help us read the fingerplay.
This is Jack-O-Happy
This is Jack-O-Sad
Now you see him sleepy
Now you see him mad
This is Jack in pieces small,
but in a pie he's best of all!

We mixed yellow and red to make orange with Mrs. Zwettler.  We used the orange we made to paint paper that we will use later in the week to make our own jack-o-lantern artwork.

We also measured a pumpkin using Unifix cubes.  We worked to count the number of cubes tall the pumpkin is, and then we worked to write the number.  We discussed shorter, taller, and equal.  Using such comparative words is a foundational math skill!

During small group time, we had a fire drill.  The friends did a great job listening, staying in the line, and not becoming upset when the alarm sounded.

During Jesus time we read the story of baby Moses.  Just as Moses was saved from the river, Jesus saves us from sin, death, and the devil.  Thank you Jesus!

After lunch and rest, we went outside.

Second free choice

During clean up time, we had an opportunity to practice cleaning up.  We reminded the friends that when the clean up song is on we don't run around, but we instead clean up.  We practiced this a few times, and it took up some of our small group time.  However, this was important for our friends to practice.

During small group time we danced to silly songs.

We also wrote in our journals.
