This morning we went to chapel where Pastor Lepley shared with us the story of the Reformation.  We learned that God is our mighty fortress!  He sent Jesus to die and rise again to protect us from sin, death, and the devil.

Outside time was chilly this morning, but that did not stop the friends from having a great time! :)

During small group time we worked to mix yellow and blue.  We learned that it makes green!  We painted the final big piece of paper for our door decoration.

We continued our work with tangrams.  We extended our learning by adding paper and pencils to the tangrams.   The friends noticed the "shadow" tangram shapes in the tangram book.  They then worked to trace their tangrams to make a "shadow" so that they can create their shapes again.

With me, the friends practiced recognizing and writing letters as we wrote the words for our door decoration.  God's grace FALLS on us!

We closed the day with prayer and playing a new favorite game called "Doggy doggy where's your bone?"

Second outside time

As we were coming back into the classroom, the friends noticed that our tree was getting ripped at the bottom.  We brainstormed what we could put at the bottom of the tree to keep it from ripping more.  One of the friends suggested a gate.  We then discussed what color our gate should be.  Some of the friends said red.  Some of the friends said pink.  One of the friends said, "Black because it's a steel gate and steel is black."  We took a vote and decided to make a black gate for our tree.

The friends then wanted to make flowers to put on the gate, and they got straight to work!

One of the goals of free choice play is for the friends to engage in cooperative play where they plan their play.  Planning play is a sign of cognitive development!  The friends were planning their play as they played together.

"Pretend that you fell down."
"Okay and then pretend that you were sad that I fell down."

During small group time we practiced solving our own problems.  We learned that we can solve our own problems!  We role played various scenarios in which there was a problem.  We discussed possible solutions to the problem.

We continued working with tangrams.

Finally, we completed painting the gate with Mrs. Lipsey.
