Happy Monday!

We had a fantastic day of Pre-K!

This morning the friends used their engineering skills to build ramps! The friends are engaging in problem solving and conflict resolution as they build.  These are important skills that will benefit them throughout their lives!

They problem solved together on how to hold up the tube that they wanted to use to roll the cars into.

We decided to make a few rules for our ramp building.  The friends came up with the rules!

Writing practice

Outside time

During small group time we went outside to answer one of our pumpkin questions:"Will a pumpkin roll down a hill?"

We extended the question by bringing clipboards, writing utensils, and a tape measure.

The pumpkin rolls down the hill! Now the question is- how far will the pumpkin roll?

We put our measuring skills to work as each friend rolled the pumpkin down the hill and measured how far it went.  We all then recorded the measurement on our clipboards.  In this activity, the children are practicing measuring skills as well as writing numbers.  Their brains are engaged as they measure and write!

During Jesus time we learned how God used Moses to set the Israelites free.  God had a big plan for Moses and He has a big plan for us too!  He sent Jesus to be our Savior!

Outside time

Second free choice time

During second small group time we explored our ramp more.  We noticed that the cars did not roll down the ramp very well. We decided to try marbles!

The marbles rolled quite a bit farther so we took our ramp to the hallway to test and see how far the marbles could go.  We noticed that the big marbles go father.  We brainstormed why the big marble went farther.

"It's so much bigger!"
"It's super heavy!"

Measuring the lenth

We also created in the blocks.

Finally we explored the rulers as we created.
