We had an exciting day in Pre-K!

The friends love experimenting with the ramp.  They are learning valuable physical science skills as they explore.

Many of the friends independently made a cross with the playdough.  The most important thing we learn about in Pre-K is Jesus and His love for us!

Of course the creation station was busy with creating!

Outside time

Yesterday we discussed what would happen if our pumpkin rolled into the pond outside.  The friends discussed whether the pumpkin would sink in the pond or float.  We decided to test and see!

We first predicted what each pumpkin would do.  We used tally marks to record out predictions. (This allows the children to see another way to record collected data.  It also helps increase number sense as we attach the tally marks to the corresponding numeral.)

We then tested it out!

The little pumpkin floats!

The big pumpkin floats too!

We discovered that the inside of the pumpkin is a lot of air, which allows it to float.  We also found all of the goo and insides of the pumpkin.  :) We began scooping the goo so that we could make a jack-o-lantern.

We tested other classroom items to see if they sink or float.

We also created in the blocks!

During Jesus time we read the story of Moses saving the Israelites.  We learned that just like God saved the Israelites, He also saved us by sending Jesus to die on the cross and rise again!

Outside Time

During second free choice time the friends built a boy's room and a girl's room in the blocks.

What is free choice time without some creation station fun?!

We also continued scooping the goop out of the pumpkin.

During small group time we sorted the seeds and pumpkin goop.

We wrote on the write and wipe boards.

We also explored more with our ramp!
