This morning during chapel DCE Joel Marquardt shared with us that it is important that we put God first otherwise we don't make time to spend in His word.

During gym time we practiced a few large motor skills before using those skills in our free choice play.

During small group time the friends continued to engage in creative thinking and artwork as they made a turkey out of "good junk."

The friends practiced writing on the white boards as well.

The friends thought through what else they wanted to add to their mural.  They then made a list of the supplies needed and went to work! Helping the friends think through what they need and organize that information increases foundational executive function skills.

Free choice time

"Look at my turkey!"

The hula hoop show

Some of the friends wanted to make a flower show.  We used this as an opportunity to increase founatilonals executive function skills.  Curious about how you can support executive function skills at home?  Click Here

Mrs. Douglas- "How are we going to make a flower show?  What do we need?"

Student - "We need flowers, lots of tall flowers, carrots, and corn."

Mrs. Douglas - "Could you make a list of those things so we don't forget?"

Student - "Yeah!  What letters do I need to write?"

Mrs. Douglas - "What letters do you hear?"

Student - "Flowers...F!  How do you write an F again?"

Second free choice time

"Who wants to go to the flower show?"

"Look!  This one is heavier.  I am going to make it equal."

Exploring the beads on the light table

Many of the friends wanted to write notes and labels on post it notes.  Writing is a great way to practice important early reading skills!
